Based on Y-House at Catskill Mountains, United States, we are to demonstrate our manual drafting skills and present clear and legible architectural drawings, apply architectural conventions and symbols. Also, demonstrate in pencil and ink examples of: • line types • line weights • line quality • hand lettering

We are introduced to basic tools such as : triangular metric scale ruler, circular template, T-square, adjustable triangle, electric eraser, erasing shield, scraper blade, masking tape, set of pencils, etc.

 Project 1 b: Axonometric projection

Based on the orthographic drawings drawn previously to extract measurement information, we are to execute an axonometric projection by generating external and internal axonometric of the house to understand the three-dimensional spatial quality of Y-House.

These projections are generated at a scale of 1:75 on butter paper and finally inked on A1-sized tracing paper.

Project 1C: perspectives

This assessment introduces perspective as a mode of communication in architecture.

In constructing both one exterior (two-point) perspective and one sectional interior perspective( one-point), we demonstrate the ability to express spatial idea in 3D form.

Also, understanding 2D and 3D relationships in architectural graphics, skills in drawing and composition, creativity and complexity of drawing.

Project 2 Tonal Values and Rendering

In this exercise, we have to express spatial ideas and architectural detail through rendering using perspective drawings .

For one-point perspective, traditional media of pencil is used to create tonal value through hatching, scribbling, and stippling to show how light reveals the form of Y-House and clarify the arrangements of forms in space.

For two-point perspective, we explore rendering the context of Y-House using one of the preferred rendering medium (watercolour)  to attempt to describe the ambience of Y-House by depicting the quality of light, the colors and textures of materials.
