Project 1 : Defining and Documenting a Project
Project 2: Picnic Pavilion at Kek Lok Tong, Ipoh
Face-to-face Admiration
This project introduces us to the use of the site in our design. After completing our site analysis, we are now tasked, in group of two, to design a picnic pavilion (with a maximum volume of 30m3 ) located at Kek Lok Tong, Ipoh. It shall include activities such as meditation, relaxation, etc. in which furniture and equipment must fit and be incorporated into the design. This structure should correspond to the site that you have chosen. Adequate access, circulation and fenestration are mandatory.
Water reflections dancing and glimmering on the cliff is what make an impression from the site visit and it spawn the inception of our pavilion. Decided to let the pavilion nestled in a fluid and sensual environment that transmits tranquillity. With it, people no longer limited to admire this nature beauty across from the riverbank but get closer to the cliff. We integrate stone facing walls that has similar tone as the limestone cliff as a visual extension of it surroundings nature. The void extends vertically encourages

upwards viewing of the towering cliff and diminishing in size ends with skylight creates a continuation of visual arch. Openings are planned to frame views of cliffside and the whole stretch of river. Components of sittings in our pavilion serve to view distinct views and also to work cohesively to shape a comfortable conversation matrix. Together with the decking, the pavilion can configure as a bigger socializing hub. The bridge to nowhere is served as a path of motion and contemplation in the arms of nature.
